Description:
Reporting to the Immigration Consultant, the Legal Assistant is responsible for assisting with all aspects of case processing and support, client communication. This is an intermediate level position in a fast-paced growing company, the ideal candidate would be someone who can work efficiently in a high volume environment, has high attention to detail, and has excellent command of English and French.

Responsibilities:

(60%) – Processing and Support Functions

Coordinating the Application process including evaluating Applications to identify category qualifications, researching the processes and requirements for different types of Applications.
Supports the team in activities related to writing, editing, reviewing, updating and producing information documents produced by the sector, and ensures the linguistic quality of these documents.
Preparing submission packages for both basic and complex submissions and sending to various government agencies (e.g., Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Embassies, Service Canada etc.), and evaluating Applications.

(30%) – Client Communication

Provide assistance in the client in-take process and respond to both basic and complex client inquiries by e-mail and/or telephone to ensure that Applications are processed and any obstacles are anticipated and dealt with.
Attend various business development events on behalf of the Frim.

(10%) - Office Administration

Performing various administrative duties including, among other duties organizing and managing files including tracking dates, doing spreadsheets, photocopying/faxing submission packages, taking passport photos.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THIS ROLE
Skills & Qualifications

  • Conscientious and co-operative;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to multi-task, organize and meet aggressive deadlines;
  • Logical, task oriented and analytical;
  • Knowledge of Canadian Immigration policies;
  • Bilingual (French and English);
  • Ability to speak and communicate in Cantonese is an asset;
  • Excellent phone manner and customer service skills;
  • Experience in an immigration firm would be an asset.


Education

  • Diploma or Certificate as Paralegal, Law Clerk or Legal Assistant is required OR Bachelor of Arts with Excellent marks;
  • Will also consider candidates in their final year of a Law Clerk or Legal Assistant program with a strong interest in immigration law.
